The wedding for Trang and Victor was definitely one of our favorites of all time. Not only was the day just plain beautiful, but they were the nicest couple. You can feel their love for each other and all friends and family beaming from them. The words of the vows were beautifully chosen and the little moments like them keeping in touch through texting throughout the beginning of the day show how inseparable Trang and Victor are.

effie & victor // wedding highlights

We’ve shot at the Trump National Golf course before, but this time was definitely very special. Effie and Victor are the friends of Wendy and David, who we had the pleasure of filming for a couple years ago. We can definitely see what a great circle of friends they all come from.

Victor is a talented, young GI doctor with a loving family with roots in France. As an Asian myself, I just found it fascinating watching lots of Asians speaking French as their native tongue. Victor is a talented doctor, who throughout the day you knew grew up in a very loving family that nurtured him to be the successful man he is today.
It was just simply a truly beautiful day to perfectly match the beautiful wedding and I look forward to seeing what fun they will have as husband and wife in the coming years. -MS

hazel & michael // same day edit

From the very first time we met Hazel and Michael, we knew they were a fun couple and that their wedding was going to be even more fun. The throughout the entire day that were filming and editing their same day edit, we were smiling.

Our day started in the Westin Pasadena and we walked into Michael’s room as he was writing a letter to his future wife, to go with the wedding gift he had gotten her. Just as he was finishing up, Hazel’s letter and gift came in for Michael. Hazel secretly borrowed one of Michael’s favorite watches to find the right size for his wedding present and Michael had a good laugh. You knew the words of Michael’s letter came from the heart, not only because he wrote it moments before delivery, but you can tell by the tears it brought to Hazel’s eyes. Yep, they in love.

Michael and his groomsmen were hilarious together, we couldn’t show all the moments from Michael’s gift-giving in the same day edit, but let’s say we can’t wait to edit their wedding film.
We were very proud to show the same day edit at the reception, including their grand entrance and first dance. We weren’t proud because we think ourselves as awesome, but rather we were proud to be the ones filming this sweet, fun and overall lovely couple.

linda and randy // SURPRISE same day edit

This same day edit is special for many reasons. Not only is it our first same day edit where the couple had no clue it was being made, but that the bride and groom are of the extended family of alumiq productions/Onyx Cinema.

It’s also the first time I was the guest at a wedding in a long while AND having my team shoot it. Weird feeling to not have a camera in my hand. I’ve gotten to personally know Linda and Randy more and more over the years and learn how sweet, funny and caring Linda is and how light-hearted, considerate and fun-loving Randy is. Also just how well they go together, after more than 10 years of knowing each other.

They chose the perfect location at the Segerstrom Concert Hall in Costa Mesa, California. Georgia decided to gift them the treat of a same day edit. So Marcus secretly entered behind the scenes, armed with a laptop and locking himself into a hidden dressing room at the end of a maze of a hallway. A few technical glitches made us chase our tails a bit (it won’t be much of a surprise if it doesn’t show at the secretly planned time, would it?), but we caught back on schedule.

They learned special choreography for their first dance, which was performed flawlessly. It was the only time I was allowed to put on a steadicam that day, being a guest and all. This was 45 minutes before showtime. Could we sneak it into the same day edit and still have time to render and set up???

While Linda and Randy were greeting tables, we set up the projector and sat them down in front of the screen. They were absolutely clueless as to what was coming. After Georgia vaguely introduced their gift to them, the video rolled, and the couple was speechless. It was a beautiful moment that I was honored to be a part of.

esther and alan // maui, hawaii

It has been a great journey with Esther and Alan, across cities and the Pacific Ocean, and we’re happy to call them friends. They’re very love, caring and considerate, not only to each other, but to their friends, family and even new friends like us.

Our journey with them started with filming a Love Story/Engagement Film for them, which was more akin to a short film that focused on making the best out of life. During that time, we really bonded with them and saw not only how in love they were, but that they were best friends to each other.

Esther and Alan gave us the honor of flying out the Maui with them to cover their wedding, even sharing the airplane ride with them, with some extra days to explore. We spent the time capturing the beauty of Maui and capturing some time lapses not only on the beaches but also on the top of Haleakala, where it felt like we’re amongst the heavens.

An intimate wedding with their closest friends and family in attendance, we made some new friends along the way and keep up with them over facebook. It is true, you can tell about a couple by the friends and family around them, and there were great people all around us.

Thank you, Esther and Alan, for the great journey across the seas and for letting us into your lives!

grace and bernard // same day edit

This was easily one of the most fun wedding’s we’ve ever shot/edited a same day edit for. Not only was it a beautiful location, but also a fun-loving couple who is very much in love as you can tell by their vows. Their vows were completely on the spot.

When it was Bernard’s turn to speak, there was a long pause, as he didn’t know what to say, but soon after it all came gushing out and we heard some of the sweetest words ever to be spoken at a ceremony. Grace also gave her vows straight from the heart, and they were no less tear-jerkers.

Our favorite moment of the evening? The dance-off between the mother and son versus the father and daughter. The highlight of the dance-off? Bernard and his mother dancing to “I’m Sexy and I Know It”

amy and john // dual same day edit

At the Hyatt Huntington beach, Amy and John tied the knot in true style, with a wedding like no other. They had us do a same day edit, but had a special request – for us to do TWO same day edits.

The day was split into two almost separate weddings, with a Vietnamese reception during the daytime and a special western reception in the night time. Above is the first same day edit that we showed in the beginning of the evening reception as we were editing Same Day Edit #2. It was a request that really challenged us to push our limits.

Amy and John made a special dance presentation along with “Poreotics”, who were featured on America’s Best Dance Crew. The performance was nothing short of amazing. A special video of their first dance performance below.

In addition, John made the special request for a separate live feed camera to project onto two screens in the side of the room. You can take a peek at it on the second same day edit as well as the Poreotics video. We weren’t sure whether we had the man power to do it, but one of the SDE editing team, Anthony Vu, ran to operate and switch the live feed.

Our team came together with other vendors to pull off a feat we’ve never done before with a skeleton crew for what was requested by the groom. Each same day edit stands up on its own.

nicole and tyler // highlights

Nicole and Tyler got married at the Trump National Gold Course in Rancho Palos Verdes. It was a rainy day, sometimes pouring, but that didn’t seem to phaze the wedding couple at all. Nicole was already ready for the rain and was in good spirits and relaxed. “It doesn’t feel like I’m getting married today,” she joked. Even with the rain, the wedding wasn’t any less beautiful within the halls of the golf course.

After the ceremony, the rain stopped and the clouds parted enough for a quick but beautiful portrait session. It was perfectly timed, and having the sun come out at that point amidst a rainy day made it all the more meaningful.

puja and arvey // highlights

Filming Puja and Arvey in their journey to tying the knot was an amazing experience. We first got to know them as the sweet and fun loving couple who came to us to make a fun love story for them.

We really got to know them and bond with them over the shoot that was put together into the short film “The Confidence Pill”, which was shown during the reception (below).

Nothing could have prepared us for the grand wedding that was in store for them. We saw the fun loving couple turn into royalty at the Marriot at Marina Del Rey. The Indian bharat ceremony combined with the beautiful Indian ceremony on the helicopter pad wowed us and we just wanted to high five the couple for what they have done together.

Please enjoy this highlight video of the day. We definitely enjoyed the whole journey as the filmmakers for Puja and Arvey.

kim and quoc // Same Day Edit

We did a Hangover Same Day Edit last year, so itis only appropriate that we would shoot a Hangover II this year. Sure enough Kim and Quoc just wanted their beloved friends and family to have a good laugh. We had a lot of fun at this wedding!
